Worst Hands Analysis

It is widely said in the poker world that a true poker player does not play to many hands and the also do not play to few hands. Knowing when to hold’em and when to fold’em, thanks Kenny, is key to winning Texas Hold’em. We all have our favorite hands that when we get them we “know” the pot is ours. We also know the hands to stay away from. Not every hand in poker is a winning hand. All hands are capable of winning, but some more so then others. Here is a list of the absolute worst hands a player can be dealt. This is based on statistics, personally I have won with pocket twos and lost with pocket Kings. This is a list from the worst to the worst of the worst starting hands in poker. Most beginners get a little excited when they have and Ace in their hand. This can lead them to having the tenth worst starting hand in poker. An Ace and a low card, off suited. This hand does on occasion win, every hand I am going to share with you can occasionally win, but we are looking at the worst hands in poker. If you are playing with four people or more at a table andthere is a raise in front of you, fold this hand. A face card and a low card is also a loosing hand. Don’t get to excited over the face card and think that you will take the pot with your J-2. The likelihood of you getting more then a pair is low, whether your hand is suited or not, folding any face card paired with a low card is advisable if you are going to go after the big money. Let’s take a look at hand like the 4-7,4-8, 5-8, 3-6. Why because these hands also seem to trigger so excitement. Many will think that they are a shoe in for the straight. The pros recommended folding these card unless you are the big blind and can see the flop for free. The likelihood of winning with these cards is very low. The “Dolly Parton” is another hand to fold. I am talking about the 9-5 starting hand. Played often because people think it is a fun hand to play, it is not a big winner. It may sound cute to play the old 9 to 5, but that could have you singing the Ray Charles song, “Busted.”The next set of cards to fold is the 2-9, 3-9 and the 4-9. Not as funny as the Dolly Parton, they are at least as consistent at loosing. Pairing the nine off would be a decent hand but you can still be beat by a pair of anything above a nine. It is also important that you are aware that there is no combination of cards that can be put together rc flying fish between those cards to get a straight. Ok, the 2-6 is another loosing hand, more times then not. It is possible to get a flop of 3-4-5 and then you could be sitting pretty, but an opponent could have the 6-7 in their hand. So while you may score the straight you can be beaten by a higher straight. I see it happen all the time. Here is something to think about, even if you are at a table with just four other people your likelihood of winning with this hand is 10%. The 2-8 off suit is not any better then the S107 helicopter above mentioned hands. The distance between the cards is to great for the straight and the high card in your hand is still a low card. Ending up with these two suited doesn’t really help much either. Has it won, yes all of these hands have won. air swimmers But remember we are looking at the consistent loosing hands here. Here you go the top two worst hands in Texas Hold’em. The 2-10, regardless of the fact that the legendary Doyle Brunson won two World Series of Poker bracelets with these cards, the average poker play should fold ‘em right away. If you do not have the thousands of hours of playing poker behind you, it is best that you just sit this hand out. There is only one hand that is worse then that. The almighty worst of the worst, here we have the number one worst starting poker hand. With virtually no chance of making a straight, none at all if you are using both cards and the high card values it to low and low post flop playability the 7-2 is the worst hand in Hold’em.
